Sustaining
Communities

Luminosity embraces social responsibility through our commitment to contribute in a
positive, meaningful and sustainable way, both locally and globally.

Sustaining Communities is a program we initiated in 2008.  It focuses its efforts on community involvement both locally and globally.  The primary goal was to cultivate a partnership with established organizations within the local community, but also connect with an organization focusing its efforts internationally.

LOCAL INVOLVEMENT

We strive to assist the local community where ever possible, from Habitat for Humanity building projects, to sponsoring local arts and community athletic programs.

INTERNATIONAL INVOLVEMENT

Since 2008, our primary focus internationally has been with the Mountain Volunteer, and The Mountain Fund.  After coordinating with their leadership team, we were able to complete two projects in Nepal.  One near Thambuchet focused on providing daylight into the Chilime School classrooms, and electric light in one classroom for adult night classes.  The other was a water purifying project for the Kalika Community Hospital in the Rasuwa District.  In both locations,  Dr. Heather Linder (UMC Medical Director) provided health care to the local community.  We look forward to continued involvement and support of their organization.

INDUSTRY INVOLVEMENT

As the Rocky Mountain International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) co-coordinator, we plan 2-3 events each year for the surrounding lighting design community.  These events focus on the continuing education of professionals and students in the architectural and lighting industry.

In addition, as a way to support various award programs (IES, Brilliance, Publications, etc.) in our industry, we take part as jurors in several programs.
